Illogical indeed.

The concept of the vampire is fiction and therefore does not have to be identical between different works of fiction. Do you read Anne Rice novels and get pissy when she doesn't exactly follow Bram Stoker's ideas? Shouldn't you be pissed that Stephanie Meyers' vision of vampires doesn't have them being created by an animal jumping over a corpse (look it up)? If you tried to include every old vampire myth into one story it wouldn't make any sense, and if you never invented new tales then vampire fiction would get stale. I'm not saying you have to enjoy Twilight, but your logic on every one of your points seemed to be based on a preconceived notion of what a fictional concept should be. And that is just illogical.

As for the actual submission, I couldn't give you any points for a collection of screen caps and a voice over recorded on a $10 mic. Couldn't you have at least gotten a girl to play Bella or done a female sounding voice yourself? Your other voices worked though.

Funny

That's the funniest drawing of Batman that I've ever seen.

Really good.

You get brownie points right off the bat for using Mario 2, my favorite game in the series. This is a really good Mario flash cartoon, but what really surprised me about it was the voice acting. All of the voices were good, with Mario, Luigi, and Princess being the stand outs. Actually, if Nintendo made a new Mario cartoon, that's exactly how I'd imagine Peach would sound.

Fantastic!

$15? Hell yes I'm buying this! It'd be awesome if you ported this as an XBLA or PSN release too. A game like this deserves some exposure! Cool graphical style, amazing music, challenging but fair gameplay... big name developers should play this and take notes.

Very fun.

The most impressive thing about this game to me is the level design. You know your action/platformers and it shows. Any complaints I have are just nitpicks really. The Cacodemon keeps firing at you even when you're filling it with chaingun fire (which most of the time stops it from firing in the original) but other than that if a weapon worked well against a certain monster in Doom then it works well here. Also *spoiler alert* The Spiderdemon walked right through the door for me, forcing me to just spam him with BFG fire. Luckily I had enough health to do so. It'd be nice if there were more boss fights... the way you've set up the Cyberdemon fights is really fun but it makes me want more. See? All nitpicks. Great game. Highly recommended to anyone who has ever enjoyed Doom or old PC sidescrolling shooters like Duke Nukem 2. Sequel maybe?

Others should take note...

Unlike most "create a scene" style Flashes, this one lets you put on as many of the same object as you want as opposed to limiting you to one or two of each. That means that for once anyone can truly make whatever scene their minds can come up with. Anyone else thinking of designing a "create a scene" game should take note.

flash-man04 responds:

Thanks, theres actually only 5 of each object but i'm sure that enough!

I've never even posted on the forums on Newgrounds so most likely no one's reading this anyway... But hi, I'm Caleb. I'm a musician who can't draw so won't ever have anything on Newgrounds.
